Chapter 20

I shifted into a raptor and sprinted across the field at the trampoline. Leaping, I landed on it in a crouch to rev up all the power of my strong dino legs, and jumped.

The wall rushed by in front of my eyes as my stomach dropped into my cunt. Then I was staring over the barrier at the impound lot spread out below me.

I kicked my legs forward to land on the top of the wall, then leaped down to the roof of a moving truck. “Rrrawwwwww,” I shouted in triumph.

From the other side of the wall, Enneka and Zeph cheered.

I hopped down from the truck and raced at the door of the lot’s sole building. At the last second, I turned sideways and slammed my entire weight against it. The door cracked and flew open. Shifting to human form, I flicked on the light switch near the door and spotted a rack of keys on the opposite wall.

My heart jumped up and down. I could almost smell the cold fresh wind blowing in my face and the bugs getting caught in my mouth as I zoomed down a highway. Yeah, there were bugs even in winter.

Grabbing my keys, I paused to push a button on the wall to open the gate, then raced across the lot to my bike.

“Aaah,” I moaned, running my hands along Bikeosaurus Rex. They hadn’t harmed her. Her black and purple paint job was still perfect and shiny. The chrome on the exhaust pipe, the footpegs, and handles was still marred by winter crud.

I pressed my upper body against her seat and hugged her. “How I missed you, lovely!”

I climbed onto the bike and slid in the key, revving her to life. She rumbled between my legs better than any vibrator or any man. I clutched the handlebars, turned her around, and hit the gas.

“Wooooo, cuntritos!” I shouted as I zoomed out the lot and past Enneka, Zeph, and Felipe. I pulled a tight turn and slowed to a stop next to them.

“Cuntritos?” Felipe said.

“It’s when you eat a pussy like a burrito. By warming it up first and getting its sauce all over your face.”

Enneka and Zeph laughed. Felipe crossed his arms—again—and made a face as though he was trying not to smile. Maybe there was a sense of humor in him somewhere, under all the saving the world from made-up shit bravado.

“Hop on,” I told Enneka.

“What about me?” Felipe said.

“Who cares?” As soon as I said it, a pang stabbed my heart like a spear. “I mean…” I wasn’t sure how to finish that thought. I cared. He liked animals and hadn’t turned us in. But also I shouldn’t care. He was still pushing that alien shit.

He glanced away. “It’s okay.”

Well, good. I didn’t have to do anything then. It still didn’t lessen the sore spot in my chest. I turned to Enneka. “Why aren’t you getting on?”

Her expression dropped. “What about the cows?” In the field behind her, a herd of tiny bovines nosed the snow as they searched for grass.
